In the midst of 2009 Grand Final footy fever, Jaycar Electronics has extended their premium jersey NRL sponsorship with the Canterbury Bulldogs, locking in for a three-year multimillion dollar deal.

The Bulldogs were defeated last Friday courtesy of a 22-12 defeat to the Parramatta Eels at ANZ Stadium in front of a record crowd of 74,549.

Jaycar Electronics chief executive Gary Johnston says he has been blown away by the extensive reach and return on investment provided by the Bulldogs in 2009.

“Our involvement with the Bulldogs has gone above and beyond anything we could have imagined,” Johnston said.

"So far they have over delivered on all our expectations. They had a pre-finals accumulated television audience of 16.4million (NRL average: 13.3million, AFL average 14.9million), they are the most visited website in the NRL and they have the highest home crowd average of any Sydney based club.

We’re a business looking to broaden our brand awareness and these figures clearly show that the Bulldogs provide an ideal platform for us to do this. We initially partnered with the Club because we were impressed with their strategic direction and the incredible change in perception of the Bulldogs brand in the broader marketplace and their outstanding form on the field has been a bonus,” he continued.

Bulldogs chief executive Todd Greenberg says the deal is an acknowledgement of the value offered by Rugby League and the Bulldogs in particular.

“This deal is an important step towards securing the future of the Bulldogs and it's a great vote of confidence in the direction we're headed," Greenberg said.

"That an organisation is prepared to commit to a long term deal in the current climate is no small achievement and we look forward to continuing a successful partnership with Jaycar."

Many other companies in our industry also get behind the NRL, including Samsung, which sponsors The Sydney Roosters, LG is the major Sponsor of the Cronulla Sharks and WOW Sight and Sound are the principal sponsors of The Brisbane Broncos.

They stand to gain much exposure from the competition this year, which attracted record crowds.
